10lilies, prompt "unexpected news".
Summary: The words were for everyone, but the message was just for her.
Vivi had barely taken in the neatly written words, beyond the opening greeting, and assurance every member of the crew remained safe. She knew that in the morning she’d spend hours comparing newspaper clippings and the many rumours she’d jotted down as she heard them with Nami’s detailed explanations of each event, each glorious battle, and she and Carue would laugh at how the media had twisted the Straw Hats into villains and how whispered stories between islands could only hope to capture half of their heroism. In the afternoon she’d practically float through the palace looking for people to share her good mood with, knowing she wouldn’t struggle to find anyone, since news from the saviours of their country raised the spirits of everyone who heard it. And in the evening she and her father and Igaram and Chaka and Pell and everybody around them would reminisce on the near-fall of their country and the strength of its resurrection and Vivi would hold the letter close as she drifted off to sleep, a smile still lighting her face in dreams.
Tomorrow, Vivi would think of her nakama and her country and she would laugh until she cried at their newest adventures.
But in the chill night air, wrapped in the familiar embrace of the darkness, Vivi’s mind was turned only to the skilled and delicate hands that had held pen to paper, hands that Vivi was so familiar with. Long, artful fingers, soft, silken skin, skilful touches and wicked caresses, and Vivi’s own hands moved fitfully beneath the bedclothes, teeth digging into her lower lip to stifle her gasps.
The heat of Nami’s skin still haunted Vivi’s memories as vividly as her sharp eyes and gentle smile. She could still feel the echoes of lithe arms wrapping around her waist, could still feel warm breath scorching her ear. Could still be wracked with shivers, simply by accidentally recalling the sensation of Nami’s fingers brushing her hair from her face, tracing across her damp forehead, kissing her eyelids.
Countless miles between them, and the barest flash in her mind of Nami’s hands snaking seductively over her skin could leave Vivi trembling, knees weak, desperate and hungry.
Everybody knew better than to disturb Vivi on a day when a letter from the Straw Hats arrived. They knew how much she missed them, knew what she had given up to stay in Alabasta and help rebuild the country she would have given her life for, and they understood her need for space, for time to sort through her emotions.
Nobody, of course, could know the way she’d allow her hands to roam, eyes closed tight at the thought of red hair and impossible curves, nails raking and fingertips pinching and so rushed, because it was never enough. Sheets pulled over her head to try to capture the heat from her memories, panting and gasping with it, fingers twisting in all those ways Nami had taught her, pressing into it, moving with them, remembering every moment alone they managed to capture and how Nami was never one to waste a golden opportunity. Riding every shudder, every jolt of feeling, drawing it out, exquisite torture, the most beautiful ache, and there was only ever one name on her tongue as her pleasure overwhelmed her.
And the next day, as Vivi rushed through the palace holding the letter close to her chest, everybody would understand that the dark circles under her eyes were from staying up all night reading and rereading the news, and the flush to her cheeks was excitement. Their princess, so strong, yet too naïve to ever be a pirate, so happy to receive word from her friends.

Date: 15/10/2007 01:45 (UTC)It's so good to have you back. I missed your fanfics so much. T____T This is hot and gorgeous and maybe just a little bit disturbing - the last paragraph really killed me [in a good way, obviously]. Brilliant work.

Date: 17/10/2007 06:57 (UTC)Yup Vivi, having a tryst with Grand Line's hottest navigator will do that to you :D But seriously, it would be great if Oda got back to her eventually. Both for us and her.
And I just realized I should think more highly of fics that involve masturbation, given that you brought out some fine specimen for them XD
As long as you're around, the OP fandom will never suffer from the lack of good yuri fan productions.
PS: You know, I've been thinking these days of how I miss your AzuDai fanwork. I really hope you'll make more in the future, or else I'll have to tie you to a chair and have you re-watch the whole series XD

Date: 22/10/2007 14:26 (UTC)Yeah, I haven't read AzuDai in a while. I used to read and reread it at work, before my boss got all strict and banned books, and I really need to pick it up again. Definitely on the never-ending list. (And that reminds me, I need to get the newest Yotsuba book, thanks for that.) ^___^

Date: 22/10/2007 15:37 (UTC)So let's sum it up... Yotsubato!, AzuDai, One Piece AND Digimon? And all of this without considering the LJ interests?! WHY haven't you contacted me on any of the chat systems yet, you silly silly girl? XD

Date: 26/10/2007 16:59 (UTC)And yes, fellow HiME fan. No Otome, Zwei or Destiny under my belt, but I'm good.
I love Nao to itty bitty pieces, though I bash her a lot in my fanarts and comics. But that's just how I express my love <3 (/Dokuro-chan).
If you ever want to catch me, my IM names are in my profile.
