fan_flashworks, prompt "enemies".
Summary: Bleeding on the razor-sharp line between friends and foes.
“We could have made such wonderful friends, dearie,” Rumplestiltskin murmurs, one finger slowly dragging along the underside of Regina’s chin. Mouth stretched into that eerie grin, his whole being exuding power, raw and dark, even behind the bars of his cage.
Maybe he’s right. They’ve been allies in the past, an unstoppable force. She could free him from this prison, they could tear this kingdom down together.
But that time is passed, and Regina knows the only person she can rely on is herself. She’ll take his deal, promise him comfort in this new land, but she won’t take his friendship, twisted as it is.
The curse may be his, but it’s Regina who will cast it. It’s Regina who will destroy Snow White’s happily ever after.
She leans forward, the bars rough against her cheek. She’s always suspected his lips would be chapped and dry, but when their mouths meet it’s as soft as any other person she’s ever kissed.
He tastes like magic.
Rumplestiltskin’s eyes are hooded and sharp when she pulls back, a edge of laughter to his breathing. She thinks she’s taken him by surprise, but with him it’s so hard to tell.
“Why be friends,” she purrs, lips tingling faintly, “when we make such exquisite enemies?”
His smile makes the hair on the back of her neck rise, her toes curl within her boots. But she is the Evil Queen and she is not afraid, and the smirk she gives him in return is haughty and cruel, making him grin wider still.
