Riku pinches the bridge of his nose in frustration, letting out a long-suffering sigh.
“What’s your problem?” Sora asks, or at least that’s what Riku thinks Sora’s asking. It’s hard to understand when he’s talking with his mouth stuffed so full.
“There’s sauce on your forehead,” Riku says in exasperation. “How is that even possible?”
Sora looks down at the plate of stripped bones, then back up at Riku, shrugging as he chews.
“They’re good ribs,” Kairi offers in explanation, stepping back into the room, and Riku turns to her for support, to point out what a damn mess Sora is making, but stops in his tracks.
“For the love of…” he groans, flopping on to the couch, and Sora grunts as he rights his plate before it can tip over. “Kairi, you have sauce on your ear.”
He watches in mute horror as Kairi wipes the sauce off with her thumb, before casually licking it clean, and Riku buries his face in his hands. Why does he have to be the only one capable of eating like an adult?
“This is hell,” he mutters, and Kairi giggles as she sits beside him. “Hell is Sora smearing barbeque sauce all over the couch.”
“It was an accident!” Sora splutters beside him, rubbing his hand over a stain Riku hadn’t even noticed yet, and probably making it worse.
“Cheer up and eat with us.” Kairi nudges Riku gently with her elbow. “Before Sora eats them all.”
“You’ve eaten just as many as me!”
“You’re both as bad as each other,” Riku informs them, completely missing the wicked look they exchange over his lowered head.
And then they’re both ducking down on either side of him, leaving sticky barbeque kisses on each of his cheeks. Laughing when Riku flails and moans at them both, but he’s smiling too, sauce on his face and warmth in his chest.
