100_women, prompt "winter".
Periwinkle knew a few things about magic, being a fairy and all. Which meant she knew magic’s limitations all too well.
Human’s made wishes, and fairies would do all they could to make those wishes come true.
Fairies didn’t make wishes, because there was nobody out there to make a fairy’s wish come true.
Except there was. Her name was Elsa, and she was a human, a Queen, and the keeper of Periwinkle’s wish.
For Periwinkle had always dreamed of flying to the Mainland during summer. Tinker Bell’s inventions were magnificent, but they didn’t have that kind of power, and so Periwinkle had resigned herself to the idea that such a wish could never be.
But Elsa had ice at her fingertips, and Tinker Bell and her friends had gone on a quest to find the Snow Queen. They’d returned with a magical cloud that sprinkled Periwinkle with snow wherever she went, even the Mainland.
That wish had come true, but it wasn’t Periwinkle’s only wish.
For she’d travelled to the Mainland, to a place called Arendelle, so she could meet Queen Elsa and thank her personally for the magic of her snow.
It had only taken one glance at the Queen’s face and Periwinkle had fallen in love.
It was foolish and hopeless and Periwinkle knew that. She knew it and yet she could not help the ache in her heart.
The magic of fairies, she could understand. The magic of Elsa’s powers, she came to understand too, as their friendship grew, fairy and human.
But the night she awoke to find herself grown impossibly tall, to the full height of a human, that was a magic Periwinkle couldn’t understand. It seemed impossible, and she had no clue how such a transformation had occurred, but she was determined not to waste such a miracle.
She flew to Elsa’s side, and she did not even have to confess her feelings, for Elsa could easily see it in her eyes, now they were such a size. Snow drifted around them as they fell into each other’s arms, the magic of winter keeping their skin cool, but the kiss shared between them burned hot as the sun.
Above them, the evening star glowed a brilliant blue in the night sky, watching over their wishes, fairy and human alike.
