comicdrabbles, prompt "blanket".
They’re on the couch in the Young Avengers’ makeshift headquarters. There’s a rip in Billy’s tights and dirt smeared over his face from an almost-nasty-but-he-saved-himself-at-the-last-moment fall. There’s scrapes across his knuckles and the heel of his palm, and there’s blood on his knees, but the important thing is that he’s okay.
Teddy apparently doesn’t believe him. Or he does believe him but he’s still freaked out about the close-call, and Billy gets that, he knows how much he wigs whenever Teddy’s in trouble.
It’s just that it’s embarrassing, having his boyfriend announce to the team that he and Billy need to talk in this way that makes it really damn obvious that ‘talk’ means ‘bicker intensely’. Even more embarrassing to have Teddy sling Billy over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes, and no matter how many indignant noises Billy made, no matter how much he squirmed and hissed and kicked out, Teddy had refused to let go.
Doesn’t help that Kate had just winked at him and ushered everyone else away.
So now they’re on the couch, and it turns out Teddy’s not in the mood to bicker intensely after all. He’s in the mood to stare intensely, and Billy feels small and stupid because Teddy’s somehow pale beneath the green Hulkling skin, and it’s Billy’s fault that Teddy’s so scared and upset.
“Please don’t do that again,” Teddy says after what feels like forever, and his voice is tight and quiet and miserable. “Please.”
“I’m sorry,” Billy whispers. “I was reckless, I panicked, I’ll be more careful in future.” It’s everything he’s supposed to say in situations like this, but he does mean it. He has no plans to get knocked out of the sky again anytime soon.
“Good,” Teddy mutters, and then he’s kissing Billy. Rough and hard, pressing Billy down into the couch cushions. Making him gasp, and too-big hands curl around Billy’s biceps, claws pricking the skin of his arms through his uniform.
“Teddy,” Billy groans, trying to push up, but Teddy’s so solid, so heavy above him. “You’re still -” Waving his arm to indicate the green bulk of Teddy’s body, still in Hulkling-mode.
“I know,” Teddy says, voice a low rumble, eyes burning, and Billy’s moan gets lost in another hungry kiss. They’ve never done this before with Teddy as Hulking, and he’s so huge, body blanketing Billy easily. Immovable and overwhelming, jagged edges and thick skin, and it’s like being with somebody else, only it’s still Teddy, and Billy’s head is spinning.
Trying to buck his hips up, but he can’t, Teddy covering him, holding him pinned. Making Billy whine, louder still when claws curl around his wrists and push them down. Making it clear his only option is to lie there and take it, and Billy whimpers, legs spreading wide for the thickness of Hulking’s body. Whimpering around Teddy’s tongue, saying sorry with his submission.
