100_men, prompt "fire".
Hades’ hand is outstretched, fire twisting around his fingers like the restless serpentine hair of a Gorgon. The flames creep through the air, take shape, forming a second unnatural hand that hovers between them. An extension of Hades’ arm, and when he curls his fingers in beckoning, the flaming hand mimics him precisely.
Hercules instinctively jerks away from the contact, but there’s no escaping it.
The flames wrap around his arm, and he’s expecting pain, intense heat, but it never comes. The hand’s grip is solid, yet it seems to flutter against his skin, ever-shifting, flames roiling against each other.
It feels only slighter hotter than his own skin, than the flush that creeps over his cheeks as the hand slides higher to squeeze at his shoulder. Fingertips of flame glancing over his Adam’s apple before settling again on the other shoulder, rippling over his flesh.
He feels a tug at his chest and something gives, brushes down over his stomach. He’s sure he makes a noise unbecoming of a hero when he glances down and realises the flames have burned through the shoulder fastenings of his toga, the material now sitting low on his hips.
The skin underneath the points where the fastenings were clasped is completely unharmed.
The hand slips across his collarbone, palm moving over his throat, gripping there lightly, the dancing flames tickling at his pulse point as it spikes, heart racing in his chest.
When the fingers grip his chin, tilt his head up, Hades is closer than before, too close. Staring down at him, and Hercules realises with a jolt that Hades’ hand, his true flesh and bone hand has replaced the flames on his skin.
“So,” Hades whispers, tilting Hercules’ head back until he can barely keep his balance, throat utterly exposed. “Do we have a deal?”
Despite the imagined heat of the fire, his smile still makes Hercules shiver.
