It’s a lazy afternoon on the Merry’s deck. The sunshine is pleasantly warm but not stifling, and Nami’s stretched out on her usual lounger, newspaper spread across her lap. Usopp, Luffy and Chopper are playing around the aft deck, occasional shrieks of laughter piercing the air, but for the most part the only sounds are metal swinging through the air as Zoro trains with the ship’s anchor, and the rustle of Nami’s paper and Robin’s book.

Sanji practically dances into view, falling over himself to offer her and Robin sugary iced drinks, and Nami thanks him with a polite nod and delicately sips through a straw.

She’s expecting Sanji to disappear back to the galley, but he stays hovering, and she glances up at him. His head is tilted, eyes thoughtful as they watch Robin. Who is in turn watching Zoro, book open but ignored, her eyes following the arc of his arms as he lifts and lowers the anchor over and over.

“Would you like me to move the idiot swordsman for you?” Sanji asks, leg flexing in preparation, and Robin blinks and looks up at him as if she hadn’t noticed his presence before. “I can understand why having that disgusting oaf sweating and grunting so close by would ruin your concentration, Robin-chan.”

“Shove it, shit-cook,” Zoro mutters between counting his way through his set.

“There’s no need,” Robin insists through a benign smile. Her gaze drifts back to Zoro, and there’s a spark in her eye as continues, “I was simply enjoying the rather exquisite view.”

Zoro freezes. So does Sanji.

Nami almost inhales her straw.

Robin just keeps on smiling, calm and placid, even though Nami’s sure she knows exactly the effect her words have had.

She expects Sanji to start blustering and posturing and trying to prove himself a better view, and for a moment it looks like that’s exactly what he’s going to do. But then he’s suddenly laughing, huge racking sobs of laughter, hand hitting his thigh, and Nami’s giggling, because it’s infectious.

And because Zoro is blushing.

He glares at Sanji, and then at Nami, then turns to glare at Robin but apparently thinks better of it. Hefting the anchor over his shoulder, he spins on his heel to stride away indignantly, cheeks flaring pink all the while in a way Nami’s never seen before.

“You didn’t finish your set,” Robin points out, oh-so helpfully.

Zoro splutters wordlessly, and Sanji laughs so hard he drops to his knees.

“I believe you were up to three hundred and twelve,” Robin supplies.

Zoro grits his teeth, turning his back to them all and resuming his training. The tips of his ears are bright red.

Sanji stands, still grinning broadly and wiping at his eyes. Nami manages to regain her own composure, cheeks hurting from her smile.

From her lounger, Robin offers them a wink, and then settles back to watch Zoro some more.
