Summary: A long overdue reunion.

“Stupid, stupid, stupid,” Phil’s muttering. Even as pissed as he is, the man still doesn’t swear. It’s almost impressive.

“You said that already,” Nick points out. There’s a low burn in his chest, a tightness to the skin where the stitches are. Standing up for too long hurts but Phil’s worked himself into a fine snit, and Nick isn’t going to interrupt for something as inconsequential as a few bullet wounds. They’re healing fine, anyway.

Plus Phil’s earned this anger.

Doesn’t mean Nick can listen to this all night, though. He has places to be, and he’s already broken cover just by being here.

Sure, he always intended to seek Phil out, tell him the truth. Same for May. But the others, these kids Phil’s put together for his team, they’re not supposed to know Nick’s alive. But they’re sharp and Phil trusts them, so Nick’s willing to make an exception.

He’s not even sure which of Nick’s fuck-ups Phil’s currently simmering about. Nick being ‘dead’ and coming back? Phil definitely being dead and coming back? Nick’s been digging himself into this hole for a while, and he’s more than willing to face the music.

But his chest is throbbing, and he’s been wound up tight for too long, and Phil is right there.

“Stupid, stupid,” Phil growls, right up until Nick kisses him.

Doesn’t matter how reserved and well put-together Phil looks, he always kisses like he’s starving for it.

“You can be mad at me later, alright?” he murmurs against Phil’s lips. “Right now we have a room to ourselves and not a lot of time.”

Phil frowns, like he’s considering just launching straight back into his frustrated tirade. But then he’s sighing, hands fisting in Nick’s jacket, dragging him close. Maybe not as roughly as he might normally, and Nick’s chest thanks him for it.

Phil kisses him like they might never see each other again, and Nick’s right there to give it all back, to touch him just as fiercely, just as passionately, hips working and hands grasping.

“Still angry,” Phil grumbles, fingers impatiently working open the buttons of his shirt.

“Duly noted,” Nick says with a broad grin, pain in his chest not fading but the heat in Phil’s eyes enough to keep him thoroughly distracted for the time being.
