femslash100's Drabbletag, prompt "thorns".
The years trickle by. Whereas once Aurora saw Maleficent as a fairy godmother, over time she finds herself drawn to the other woman in a different way.
She notices the noble strength in Maleficent’s eyes, but also the fullness of her lips. The majestic beauty of her wings, but also the curves of her figure.
What is more, she is certain Maleficent views her in the same way, for her gaze lingers upon Aurora’s mouth and body with a heat that warms Aurora to her very core.
Yet Maleficent shies away from her, hesitant in this in a way she is in so few aspects of her life.
Aurora cannot allow that. She will not see Maleficent lost to the shadows again.
She brushes her fingertips along the sharp line of Maleficent’s cheekbone.
“Can we not be together?” she asks, speaking plainly and earnestly.
“My dear Aurora,” Maleficent sighs sadly. “You are the rose, the blossom, beautiful and fair. And I am the thorns, for although I have forsworn my vengeance, there will always remain a part of me that is twisted and cruel.”
Aurora smiles, palm cupping Maleficent’s jaw. “Do you not see?” she laughs, and Maleficent arches an eyebrow, her expression assessing. “That is only proof that we belong together. For a rose and thorns grow together, the perfect balance, destined to be as one.”
She presses closer, and this time Maleficent does not pull away, allowing their lips to finally meet in a second true love’s kiss.
