comicdrabbles, prompt "ranger".
America is used to being a wanderer, a loner. Since she left her world, she’s been on her own, bouncing across the Multiverse. Always drawn back to this Earth, always checking in on the Demiurge, making sure Billy Kaplan remains safe.
But still, she has remained alone.
She does not mind. This is the path she chose, and she does not regret it.
Admittedly, there have been days when loneliness crept in around her edges.
Not anymore. She has a team now, a family. She always imagined what it would be like, to stand at Billy Kaplan’s side, and she is proud to do so.
But he is not her anchor, not anymore.
It is Kate Bishop who has somehow instated herself as the centre of America’s world, whose presence calls to her across countless universes. It’s Kate’s laughter, the sharpness of her sarcasm and the easiness of her smile. It’s the warmth of her skin and the scent of her hair. It’s her thirst for adventure and her passion for life. It’s the grip of her thighs, the arch of her back, the taste of her pleasure.
It is Kate who is home, and America is alone no longer.
