femslash100's Drabbletag, prompt "pining".
God, Kate hates this. It’s stupid and unfair and embarrassing.
It’s only been a week since she last saw America. A week. And yet she spends half her time wound-up and pissy, and the other half she’s got this power-maudlin thing going on, draping herself across couches and sighing dramatically without even realising she’s doing it.
Billy and Teddy think it’s adorable, which means she’s going to have to make them suffer. Eventually. When she’s in the mood for it, which she isn’t right now, and she hates that it’s because she misses America so damn much.
America’s the last thing she thinks of at night, her first thought each morning, and she keeps getting lost in her own head, thinking about America’s lips, her hands, the warmth of her skin and all that strength.
It’s official. Kate's got it bad.
And after the longest week in the history of ever, America saunters into the room and gives Kate that cocky smirk, just like always. “Did you miss me, princess?” she teases, hand on her hip and looking so smug.
Kate wants to hit her, to grab her, hold her close, pull at her clothes and hair, wants to never let go.
Instead she arches one eyebrow coolly and says, “You wish, Chavez.”
America laughs, because she always sees through Kate’s crap, and then nothing matters because she’s got America’s lips against her own and the world is right again.
