Arlong Park was behind them, and the rum was flowing freely. Luffy was babbling, swishing his drink wildly, more of it ending up on Usopp’s lap than in Luffy’s mouth. Nami was smiling, a genuine smile, and their newest nakama, the shitty blonde love cook, was cooing and fawning over her like a man possessed.
As his nakama celebrated their victory, Zoro raised his own silent toast to unbroken promises. His fingers idly traced the still raw edges of the wound that now marred his chest, but Kuina’s presence burned more fiercely than the sear of any blade through flesh.
