It feels strange. Standing beside his brother again, familiar rush of adrenaline coursing through him.
Luffy’s changed. Ace can tell with that first glance, sizing up the many ways his baby brother has grown. Shanks’ straw hat on his head, weight of captaincy on his shoulders, strength of his nakama straightening his spine. Same old grin, though, full of challenge.
Not much time, but he savours what he can. The warmth of Luffy’s chest pressed against his own, lips at his neck. Dark hair tickling his chin, Luffy’s fingers curling around his belt.
Stolen moment, before the horizon calls him.
